Cranes

Crane

The most usual reason for requiring a crane operation to install large glass units is the weight of the panel. However there are also occasions where it is not possible to manoeuvre the glass into position due to the size alone, or where the glazing is on the top of a building.

In general a crane will be needed for a roof panel if the weight is greater than 100kg (about 2.5 square metres) or if a vertical panel weighs more than 150kg (about 3.8 square metres). The cost of this crane operation will largely be dependent on whether or not a road closure is necessary. If so you are at the mercy of your Council for the charges they apply.

Cantifix use an electronic vacuum sucker to lift the glass, which allows the panel to be rotated and sloped to accommodate the installation. As the tolerances are so small and the effect of an accident so large, the crane operation must be controlled by experienced personnel.
