Self Build & Design December 2009 October 2009
Charlie Sharman loves glass - and it shows. In 1986 Charlie, his brother William and their father established Cantifix, a conservatory business. Since then the company has become renowned for experimental and exciting architectural glazing, specialising in glass structures designed to meet the most extracting requirements. Working closely with architects and structural engineers, Cantifix takes a project from concept through to final installation. The company also offers an online service which allows self builders to order a range of glass products for self-installation. Cantifix's manufacturing facility in north London has expanded to accommodate the growth of the business, but the company is still run by two of its founding directors, Charlie and William Sharman. More recently they have been joined by another brother, Matthew, and Charlie's wife, Fiona. "We now have a customer base of around 1,500 architects, designers and contractors," says Charlie. "Poeple like the fact that we are so hands-on and appreciate seeing a fimiliar face."
