Building regulations for spirals are different to straight staircases - to serve one habitable room, a spiral staircase should have a 600mm clear width, maximum rise of 220 mm and a centre going of more than 145 mm.

The changing colours of [Cantifix's] glass spiral staircase are achieved by using LED lights wired through the central core of the staircase.
