Cantifix Architectural Glazing

Roof Lights – Structurally Silicone Bonded

Rather than relying on a traditional aluminium framework such as ‘patent glazing’ to support the double-glazed panels, why not have the glass do all the work?

Glass is a very strong material and can support great loads (see ‘glass flooring’ for more information). Also, the air within the double glazed units is a good insulator – hence the reason why it is hermetically sealed, to stop heat/cold transference.

Designing the glass roof light to be self-supporting, with no aluminium supports, results in a much lighter appearance, giving designers and their clients a bigger ‘wow factor’, and at the same time being more effective and efficient in insulating the property into which it is installed.

Glass is strong enough to cope with some significant loads, and is able to span up to 1700mm without deflecting (based on a 10mm toughened outer sheet, 16mm spacer and a 6mm toughened inner sheet).
