Cantifix Architectural Glazing

Harris Pool House

John Pardey Architects

This is a very apt description of a building for a swimming pool that is larger than many peoples’ house. Eventhough the space has a variety of uses, which include gym, library, study, sauna and steam room; it is essentially a swimming pool enclosure.
The freedom of design and lack of constraints possible in a building of this nature, has allowed the Architect and Client to express their desires.
The glass used by Cantifix differs from normal double glazed units in that the normal perimeter black spacer bar is replaced with glass. This produces a far lighter and more consistent effect and is a further example of how far structural glazing has come over the years.
Due to the rural situation, the glass had to be installed with a mini-crawler crane as the weight of some of the panels exceeded the maximum permissible weight of 150kg for manual lifting.
