Creating a glass link between the house and the existing garage has allowed the owners to incorporate an office into their home. The glazed area had a multitude of functions and it was important to keep the structure as minimal as possible to allow the design to complement its surroundings.
Most glass Companies would have installed a conventional framed ridge roof which would have dominated the space. Through consultation with the Architects, Cantifix proposed a structural glass roof, with the two panels supporting each other along the ridge. At either end the shaped vertical glass bonds the structure together with no additional framework. This solution did require a crane to install the glass, but the finished effect certainly compensates for the extra expense.
