St. Mary's Church Hall
The project has made remarkable progress: planning permission was gained at first attempt, indeed the design was commended as being both imaginative and in keeping by the local authority. The requirements of English Heritage were met and, not least, funding was forthcoming from the community.
The design of the centre is unashamedly modern, yet it incorporates traditional materials including a dry-stone wall of Welsh slate. There are large areas of glass to give the impression of space and to enable the surrounding to be seen from within.
The building has already attracted favourable comment. It will be a worthy addition to an area which already contains many buildings of architectural merit.
