Opening Rooflight

An opening rooflight fits within the framing of a glass roof and can either be operated manually or electrically.
As hot air rises an opening rooflight is the most efficient way of expelling a build up of heat, without resorting to mechanical means. It can also be opened a small amount and still be secure, which is very useful if a room needs airing overnight.
An aluminium opening rooflight works on the principle of allowing water into the system and then draining it away at the bottom. For this reason it must be fitted with glazing bars on either side and at a minimum slope of 12 degrees.
It can still be installed as part of a structurally glazed project, but must be treated in a separate way to the fixed glazing.
