Sandblasted Glass
Product Details
Sandblasted glass is not only used for matters of privacy. It is often specified in areas where the natural light has to be flattened and made more consistent, such as an artist`s studio.
The amount of light transmitted through a sandblasted panel is reduced by about 30% compared to clear glass, but the glare is almost eliminated. It is clearly important that all matters are considered carefully before specifying sandblasted glazing, but the effects can be surprisingly dramatic.
In a double glazed unit the sandblasted surface is inside the cavity, so there are no issues with keeping the surface clean. On single glazing the sandblasted surface is treated with an anti-stick finish, but will still show fingerprints and other marks.
Often the upper face of a glass floor will be sandblasted to make it less slippery in wet weather; however it is a better option to include stripes or dots to maintain the clarity of the glass.
