Project Details
This is another persuasive example of a modern extension complimenting an old building. Architectural critics would not approve of an extension that attempted to blend in with the original, as a house has to grow organically and that growth is part of its history.
By using large sliding doors which are bonded to the structural glass, the boundaries between internal and external are confused.
The lightness and lack of structure is what makes the design so complimentary. Large openings are filled with single sheets of double glazed glass, with the framework hidden within the finishes. The sliding doors all have a flush threshold to maintain the lack of a physical barrier between the house and the garden.
