Project Details

There are a limited number of options if a lift has to be added to an existing building. The lift shaft must be external and the only realistic decisions revolve around design issues.
The cladding for the lift on this adult education centre in South East London is curved, laminated glass panels, which are overlaid with a decorative film. The glass is structurally bonded to aluminium frame work that is fixed to a steel skeleton. The glass roof is also structurally bonded in position and supported across the width by a glass beam.
