It is not always necessary to design buildings on an epic scale. The addition of this large sliding door into one wall of the kitchen makes enough of a statement and certainly improves the look of the room.
Keeping the threshold of the door below the floor finishes means there is no physical distinction between inside and outside. This increases the sense of space within the room and allows for a more efficient use of your garden.
A life without walls is what we can all aspire to.
