Project Details

The original dairy of this old farmhouse has been transformed into a family kitchen. Two large glass roofs have been included in the flat roof and a glass box with a folding door forms the centre-piece of the room. The glass box has no framework apart from the perimeter angle and the support for the folding doors is supplied by the vertical glass above. This panel transfers the weight of the roof to the sides of the door opening.
To connect the new kitchen to the main house it was decided to use a framed system to give the impression of a cloister. The roof of the cloister includes some automatic opening rooflights and the corner glass is supported on a glass beam.
