With the restrictive rules of most Planning Departments it is often impossible to progress design in an urban environment.
Occasionally permission is granted for a scheme that allows a spectacular expression of modern life. Whatever personal view you may have of this extension, it is undeniably a step in a different direction.
The inclusion of structural glass in the roof and windows is the usual way of extending a terraced house into the garden, but the treatment used in this scheme is anything but usual. The doors have deliberately been kept narrow to contrast with the large glass panels around them.
