Project Details

This music venue in Oxford required an area outside the theatre for the audience to congregate before a performance. Due to the potential size of the audience the area needed to be large enough to accommodate several hundred people.
In addition to this there were planning constraints due to the listing as an historical building. The extension had to have the smallest possible impact on the integrity of the original architecture.
Large vertical and horizontal glass panels, supported on steel T sections, was the approved design, with framework limited to four sets of double casement doors. The toughened, double glazed glass units are structurally bonded to the steel and the joins are then siliconed. There is no external framework except for the doors.
