Project Details

The design of this extension has all the ingredients of a traditional space, but uses floor glass to form the roof structure of the basement room.
In effect this means the glass has a dual purpose as it can be used as a roof terrace whilst still performing its function of bringing light into the basement. The surface of the glass floor has been sandblasted for privacy and to reduce slipping when walked across.
It was necessary to raise the roof on one side of the extension to accommodate the staircase, but this has added to the overall impression of the design. The large sliding doors in the basement connect the house with the garden.
