Oakford Road Project Details
The "function" of creating more space in your home, can nearly always benefit from consideration of the "form". This extension on the side of a typical North London terraced house has substantially enlarged the living space, whilst also improving the living quality.
Instead of including a single plane of glass, the Architect specified a succession of small ridged sections. This has created an organic feel that seems to flow like the waves at sea and this effect is enhanced when it rains. Whilst the general direction of flow is from top to bottom, each panel of glass also slopes towards the gutter along the boundary's edge.
This simple design feature has transformed the look and feel of the space and the sliding folding doors, with a flush threshold, means that the garden can become a usable part of the room.
