Project Details
English Heritage was particularly concerned with preserving the impact of the Victorian folly on the original building. They insisted on a fully glazed structure with no doors to break up the panels.
This has made the space less convenient from the point of view of combining the house and the garden, but it has still added greatly to the footprint of the property.
The roof is supported on aluminium curtain walling sections and the slope is kept to a minimum to increase the impact of the design.
With no ventilation in the glass box it is important that some form of mechanical extraction is included elsewhere in the design.
