Project Details
The large glass roof on this modern extension is supported on steel box sections running across the structure. Glass beams would have been a viable alternative, but the design intent was to keep the structure as small as possible.
The opening rooflight is automatically operated and sits above the double glazed roof as it has a central position within the panels. The very large vertical panel was installed with a crane, as was the roof on the side of the house.
This roof has a change to the pitch of the slope within the roof and this join also required a steel support.
The improvement to the lightness of the interior is dramatic and all the glazing allows the surroundings to be fully appreciated.
