Downshire Hill.

The tall glass walls at the rear of this Hampstead townhouse replaced an ugly and run-down brick and UPVC conservatory with a dynamic modern space. From the outside the clean, straight lines of the Sky-frame sliding doors and the lightness of the structure compliment and accentuate the style of the original building.

project details

  • The new glass extension links the kitchen, dining room and hallway, and is used as a cosy TV room by all the family.
  • The Sky-Frame doors open on all 3 sides and slide away from the corner, allowing easy access to the garden and bringing an airy feeling to the indoor space.
  • A huge single panel glass roof floods the space with natural light and includes a solar control coating on the glass to minimise both heat loss and heat gain.
  • The footprint of the extension is relatively small, but the floor to ceiling glass walls add to the feeling of indulgence and space.
