Ockendon Road.

It is often easier to improve the home you live in rather than move to somewhere unfamiliar; however it does require radical thinking from all the design team. Taking down the original extension and removing the back wall of the house presents an opportunity to make lifestyle choices that suit contemporary living. The glass extension provides plenty of light and space and the chance to make those choices.

project details

  • The glass slots running in different directions are the unifying factor between the pods, as well as providing much needed light into the interior.
  • The sandblasted panel on the first floor protects the modesty of the person using the bathroom, whilst producing interesting and ever-changing shadows within.
  • The folding doors into the garden are both practical and a means of including the garden into the living space.
