If the modern kitchen is designed to celebrate food and the cooking process, then the 4th Wall concept kitchen by Poggenpohl, Electrolux and Cantifix is the perfect response. The larder, wine cellar, Butler’s pantry, glass walls and chimney are glass structures which can switch between transparent and opaque- theatrical food presentation at the touch of a button.

project details

  • The glass structures and walls are built using grey tinted glass with a switchable interlayer, allowing transparency when required.
  • The pantry shelves have been laminated into a U shape, so only 3 discrete supports are needed making it appear to float.
  • The shelves, worktops and units seem to pass through the glass, which increases the spectacular conflict between solidity and softness.
  • The all glass shelving units of the wine cellar use the inherent strength of glass to support a huge number of wine bottles safely.
