Walkers Court.

This new development and refurbishment of Walkers Court in Soho has taken a long time in the making, but has finally been granted planning permission. The arguments on both sides ranged between the necessary updating of the buildings and facilities, and the retention of the much loved “theatrical soul” of the area - no one wanted a sanitised shopping mall.

project details

  • The entrance to the new theatre will be via an innovative double height glass bridge, which has been engineered in only 4 panels of glass and without any structural support.
  • The glass floor of the bridge will include a fabric interlayer to help protect the modesty of the people walking across and stopping to take in the atmosphere.
  • The huge glass walls of the atrium span over 7 metres to expose the new brass staircase and demonstrate the interaction between inside and outside.
  • The main ticket office and information centre on the ground floor will have a curved screen with a unique curved sliding Pureglaze door.
