St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace was originally built in the 15^th century and was one of the few City churches to survive both the Fire of London and the 2^nd World War undamaged.

The staff at the centre wanted to build a draft lobby, which also reduced the external noise levels to maintain the peaceful and contemplative atmosphere.

The Glass

• The box is double glazed and uses acoustic glass to insulate the interior from the busy streets outside and create an internal lobby.
• A Pureglaze door was included in the design to minimise the impact and enhance the inter-relationship between the old and new.
• The small frameless glass extension does not block any of the natural light coming through the existing windows and the reflections add to the sense of tranquillity.
